Your notes are saved in this browser, as you write. Each study saves itself under whatever reference is in the box. Nothing is sent anywhere unless you turn on syncing in My studies — and if you do, your notes are encrypted on this device before they leave it, so the server stores something it cannot read.
The reference is the study’s name. Changing it renames the study you are in; it does not begin a fresh one. To begin a fresh one, use New study. Your old studies stay in My studies.
Notes kept in a browser can be lost. Clearing your browsing data erases anything held only here, and Safari deletes stored data on its own after about a week without a visit. Three things guard against that: adding this page to your home screen, which stops that clock; turning on syncing, which keeps a copy your phrase can bring back; and Print or save as PDF, which gives you the full eight-card sheet, filled or blank, to keep outside the app altogether.
